The Los Angeles Lakers are actively pursuing seasoned NBA head coaches to bolster JJ Redick’s new coaching staff.

According to Marc Stein’s Substack report, the Lakers have targeted Dwane Casey and Jacque Vaughn for assistant coaching roles.

Casey recently transitioned to a front office position with the Detroit Pistons after leading the team for five seasons until 2022-23. Meanwhile, Vaughn was dismissed by the Brooklyn Nets in February after a brief stint as head coach.

The Lakers’ search for experienced mentors comes as they aim to add head coaching experience around Redick.

Casey brings a wealth of coaching experience, notably guiding the Toronto Raptors to multiple playoff appearances and winning the NBA Coach of the Year award in 2018.

Vaughn, known for his tenure with the Orlando Magic as an interim head coach and assistant roles with successful franchises, offers strategic insights and player development expertise.
