Despite LeBron James’ recruitment efforts for the Los Angeles Lakers, four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson has chosen to sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the 34-year-old shooting guard plans to join the Mavericks on a three-year, $50M deal with a player option.

Wojnarowski also reported that Thompson had four-year offers for more money, but taking less was offset by the chance to win a fifth championship with Dallas and difference in state taxes.

Thompson, known for his scoring ability and playoff experience, averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game last season.
