This tournament serves as a key step on the road to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Canada Basketball aims to build continuity and depth through its coaching pool, which includes experienced professionals across NBA, FIBA, Olympic, and European leagues.
Canada will open its AmeriCup campaign against Venezuela on August 22 at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello. The team’s schedule also includes matchups with Panama and Puerto Rico.
Following the AmeriCup, Canada begins qualification for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, hosted by Qatar.
