Mario Hezonja has decided to extend his stay with Real Madrid, debunking earlier speculations linking him to Barcelona.
The Croatian small forward confirmed his commitment to the Spanish giants, expressing gratitude to the club for their unwavering support and making Madrid feel like home.
Hezonja announced on X “Real Madrid believed in me when many didn’t, cared for me and my family since the first day I arrived and made us feel at home. My only intention was to stay so I am happy to communicate to you that I will continue my journey at MY HOME, MY REAL MADRID for a long time!”
According to reports, Hezonja has inked a lucrative five-year contract with Real Madrid valued at €12.5 million.
At 29 years old, Hezonja, who began his professional career with Barcelona, has solidified his place in Madrid’s roster over the past two seasons. His tenure culminated in winning the EuroLeague title last season.
During the recent EuroLeague campaign, Hezonja averaged 13.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per game. His contributions were pivotal as Real Madrid advanced to the Final, where they narrowly missed out on the championship to Panathinaikos.
