Former Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham has taken on a new role with the Milwaukee Bucks as the top assistant coach under Doc Rivers.

Lakers legend Magic Johnson expressed his delight at Ham’s appointment to the Bucks’ coaching staff.

Johnson tweeted, “I’m so happy that my friend and Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach Doc Rivers has named former Lakers Head Coach Darvin Ham as his new Top Assistant!”

The move to Milwaukee is a return for Ham, who was an assistant coach with the Bucks from 2014 to 2020.

Ham’s swift hiring after his firing by the Lakers earlier this year highlights his respected status in the NBA.

Ham was previously considered a candidate for head coaching roles with other NBA teams.
