Nick Calathes is one of the three players that appeared first time at the Final Four in 2011 and who is taking part in EuroLeague’s 2024 F4 in Berlin.
Besides Calathes, Fenerbahce player, only Sergio Rodriguez an Sergio Llull are the other two players who were there in 2011 and now in Berlin as well.
“Only three of us back then and now?! It means we are old! I am joking, we are experienced. Those are the amazing guys, amazing players. And it is funny how you go 13 years, and I have to say, I am very blessed to play and very blessed to be able to play at this level, to be in the situation where I am right now. I will try to take advantage of that, and it was a huge step for us tomorrow”.
When Calathes first appeared at the Final Four, his teammate was Sarunas Jasikevicius. And in Berlin, they are together again, but Saras is his coach now.
“It is crazy how the life works. We we were together at the Final Four as the teammates and now he as my coach. He is already experienced coach at Final Fours, and I hope this time we will get it for him and for Fenerbahce“.
First step is Nick and his team is facing tomorrow. Their opponent is Panathinaikos.
“They are a very good team, play good basketball, excellent guard play, they have big guys as well, but we need to focus on us. We need to believe and have confidence tomorrow. We had tough road to get here, and alt that matters is that we are here now. In my opinion, we are playing great basketball and hopefully we will play good basketball at the right time”, finished Calathes.
