With new media rights deals expected to surpass $7 billion per season in 2025-26, the NBA is poised for a significant salary cap increase. Despite this, the league and players’ association have agreed to a conservative 10 percent annual cap increase.

This approach will still see the salary cap exceed $200 million by the 2028-29 season. Consequently, supermax contracts could start at $72 million that season and reach $419 million over five years. By 2033-34, some players may even earn nine figures annually.
