Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas offered insights into D’Angelo Russell’s recent remarks concerning his relationship with Los Angeles Lakers coach Darvin Ham.

Arenas, speaking on Gil’s Arena, drew parallels between Russell’s experience and past issues involving Russell Westbrook during his tenure with the Lakers.

“It makes sense,” Arenas commented, suggesting a pattern of communication breakdowns within the Lakers organization.

“It’s the same thing with Russ [Westbrook]. When Russell’s having an issue, there was no dialogue,” Arenas continued. “As players, the one thing you can’t do is leave us in the dark and have us think for ourselves in the sense of f you don’t give me the guidance of what you want from me, then I’m going to go out there and do it how see the game.

“And what ends up happening is if I see it a certain way and you’re penalizing me for but not telling me what you want me to do like, if I think that I should go out there get mismatches and go one-on-one or mismatches and throw to the post and you have something else but you’re not telling me, but you’re telling him and then he’s benefiting fro it but I’m not, I might have an issue with it.”
