Mike Muscala is in the final stages of securing a buyout with the Pistons, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. According to Wojnarowski, several playoff contenders have expressed interest in signing Muscala.

To retain playoff eligibility, a player under an NBA contract must be waived by the end of the day on Friday. Muscala, at 32, has had a challenging season playing for the league’s two least successful teams.

After featuring in 24 games with the Wizards, he was traded to the Pistons in mid-January. In his 13 appearances with Detroit, including four starts, Muscala has averaged 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 13.2 minutes per game.

As highlighted in our Buyout Market Watch, Muscala is set to join other recently waived veterans in seeking opportunities with teams contending for the postseason.
