The Golden State Warriors are reportedly open to exploring the trade market for Andrew Wiggins, despite the forward being in the first year of a lucrative four-year, $109 million contract.

Recent reports suggest that Wiggins’ contractual situation may not be a significant hurdle for the Warriors, indicating a willingness to consider trade options.

According to Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, there is a shift in the team’s stance, stating, “Though I’ve said in the past that the Warriors might be reluctant to trade Andrew Wiggins so soon after he signed a relatively bargain-rate contract extension specifically so he could remain with this team, I’ve since heard that this would not be a major barrier for the Warriors to explore Wiggins’ trade market.”

Wiggins, 28, has faced a challenging season, averaging a career-low 12.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 26.6 minutes per game.

The reported openness to explore trade options raises questions about the team’s dynamic, particularly concerning Wiggins’ compatibility with emerging talent such as Jonathan Kuminga.
