The New York Knicks star RJ Barrett’s strong start to the season hit a bump due to a knee problem.

He was absent from Wednesday’s 95-89 defeat against the Cavaliers at the Garden due to discomfort in his left knee.

The game followed a back-to-back schedule, and Barrett had logged around 25 minutes in Tuesday’s victory in Cleveland.

Coach Tom Thibodeau mentioned that Barrett’s availability was uncertain until game time, and the official decision ruling him out was made roughly 30 minutes before the game started.

Thibodeau refrained from commenting on how close Barrett was to playing, deferring to the medical staff’s judgment.

The injury is believed to have originated from a tweak in Barrett’s knee during the season opener against the Celtics, and he has been managing it since then.
