In the opening act of the 2023-24 NBA Regular Season, Zach LaVine stole the spotlight with a remarkable 50-point performance, marking the first such display of the season.

Despite his impressive feat, the Chicago Bulls found themselves on the losing end against the Detroit Pistons.

LaVine showcased his scoring prowess by connecting on 19 out of 33 field goals, including an impressive 7 out of 13 from beyond the arc, establishing a new individual scoring record.

However, his outstanding effort wasn’t enough to secure a victory for the Bulls, who now stand at 1-2 after the loss at the Little Caesars Arena.

“I wasn’t happy with the way I was performing and the way the offense was looking,” LaVine commented on coming in with 12.0 points 23% from the field over the first two games. “It’s upsetting you have a performance like that and lose. It sucks.”

In his tenth NBA season, LaVine is in the midst of his seventh campaign with the Illinois-based franchise. With a career-long average of over 20 points per game, his skills on the court are anything but unknown.

“He is such a pronounced scorer and teams are putting him on the top of every scouting report. But we still lost by double digits,” Bulls head coach Billy Donovan said following the loss in the first 2023-24 installment of NBA Saturdays.
