Panathinaikos Athens center Mathias Lessort stirred up social media by celebrating his former team’s victory via FaceTime.

Following Partizan’s win over Crvena Zvezda, Aleksa Avramovic called up Lessort, who previously played for the black-and-white squad.

Despite his tradition of connecting with Grobari fans after EuroLeague wins, this virtual celebration raised concerns among some Panathinaikos supporters about loyalty to his current team.

“I was at home, my friend called me, and I just answered,” Lessort explained to Greek media. “It was nothing more than that. I was happy for them and the win they got. Now, I play for Panathinaikos.

“I will sweat the shirt and do everything for my team, but I will support them [Partizan players] when they get an important win against their biggest rival.

“It doesn’t mean anything. They are my friends. They will always be my brothers wherever they or I play. I know there’s been some buzz, but I don’t pay much attention to social media.”
