Following his recuperation from an ankle injury, the Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner made a powerful comeback during the knockout stage, playing a pivotal role in Germany’s journey to the Final.

He contributed 22 points and five rebounds in the semifinal victory against Team USA and delivered a remarkable performance of 19 points and seven rebounds in the championship game triumph over Serbia.

“There were so many moments this year in so many games that the other team made a run, this game, the game before against the States,” Wagner said. “We never let it slip, we just kept playing and kept staying together. That made a huge difference in all these games.”
