Germany created history by clinching their inaugural world championship title with a triumphant 83-77 victory over Serbia in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Final.

Following the match, Moritz Wagner expressed his joy, not only for his recent achievement but also for the significance of this gold medal in the context of German basketball.

“I will say that this is really cool for German basketball in general,” Wagner said. “It’s not about me. It’s about us. In the grand scheme of things, this means a lot for the German basketball culture.

“Having the feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself, it’s so valuable and awesome. I’m grateful for that.”
