French big man Mathias Lessort sustained an ankle injury that caused him to sit out all the preparatory games.
Nevertheless, the current coach of the French national team, Vincent Collet, held onto the hope of his return with great anticipation until the final moments. Remarkably, his persistence paid off.
“Everyone knows what was wrong, my left ankle, it lasted almost the entire preparation,” Lessort said. “I’m back on my feet, I trained all week, I played in practice matches, I didn’t have any pain, so it’s positive for the future.”
