Fenerbahce opened the season by adding another trophy to their collection, beating Besiktas 72-59 in the Turkish Super Cup final.
The victory continued Fenerbahce’s recent dominance over their Istanbul rivals. Last season, they captured all three domestic trophies and defeated Besiktas in each of the three finals.
Wade Baldwin was the leading figure for Fenerbahce, finishing with 13 points and six assists. Braxton Key added 11 points and seven rebounds, while Will Clyburn and Shavon Shields contributed eight points apiece.
Jaylen Nowell led Besiktas with 13 points in his first Super Cup appearance for the club, while Devon Dotson finished with nine.
Fenerbahce controlled the contest from the opening stages and built a comfortable advantage before halftime. The 2025 EuroLeague champions entered the break leading 46-27 after establishing a 19-point margin.
Besiktas responded after halftime and managed to make the game competitive again. Dusan Alimpijevic’s team cut the deficit to eight points at 60-52 during the fourth quarter.
However, Fenerbahce prevented Besiktas from completing the comeback and closed out the game to secure their first title of the new campaign.
