As Team USA continues its preparations for the upcoming FIBA World Cup, Mikal Bridges is taking a moment to savor the experience of being part of the prestigious roster.

The talented small forward recently shared his thoughts on the surreal feeling of donning the Team USA jersey and representing his country on the international stage.

“I actually have to take a moment to (step back) and realize it,” Bridges remarked, via Joe Vardon of The Athletic. “Sometimes I’m just so ‘go, go’ and it’s onto the next thing and the next. But that’s something I learned after leaving college … appreciating a moment and being (present) in a moment.”

The excitement of being part of Team USA and wearing the national colors was not lost on Bridges. He recalled the moment he received the news of his selection by the team’s head coach, Steve Kerr, and the official call from Grant Hill inviting him to join the roster. For Bridges, these instances felt like “pinch me” moments that reaffirmed the reality of his new journey.

As the Americans gear up for their final FIBA World Cup preparation games against Germany and Greece in Abu Dhabi, Bridges is embracing his role and cherishing the opportunity to contribute to the team’s success.
