NBA legend Isiah Thomas has weighed in on the upcoming 2024 NBA season, and he’s putting his faith in the Celtics. Thomas expressed his optimism for Boston’s chances to win it all next year, citing the addition of Kristaps Porzingis as a significant boost to the team’s lineup.

Thomas particularly likes that the Celtics managed to secure Porzingis without parting ways with their core stars, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The 2023 trade brought Porzingis to Boston, sending Marcus Smart to the Grizzlies and Tyus Jones to the Wizards.

“Maybe Porzingis is the missing piece,” Thomas said, via Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. “They have all the pieces, and should be favored to win it all.”

The Celtics have come tantalizingly close to an NBA championship in recent years, making deep runs in the playoffs. In 2020, they fell to the Heat in the Conference Finals, followed by Finals losses to the Warriors in 2022 and the Heat again in the 2023 Conference Finals.

With a strong core and the addition of Porzingis, Isiah Thomas believes the Celtics have all the pieces in place to be the favorites to hoist the NBA title in 2024.
