In a recent interview on the Run Your Race podcast, Grant Williams, the 24-year-old power forward, shared his thoughts on the tough choice between two exceptional NBA talents: Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Williams, who was traded to the Mavericks earlier this month, ultimately picked his new teammate as his preferred player. He cited Doncic’s impressive game-winners and his unstoppable step-back move to the left as key factors in his decision. Williams also praised the Slovenian’s evolution from a dunking rookie to a more calculated player, showcasing his versatility on the court.

“I got Luka, just because I think Luka has more game-winners and proven stuff because that step back to his left, I don’t know if I have ever seen it get stopped or blocked and it’s the same spot over and over again,” Williams said, via HoopsHype.

However, Williams acknowledged Gilgeous-Alexander’s remarkable skills, saying it looks like he has to work to get buckets. The young guard had an outstanding season, averaging 31.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game, earning his first NBA All-Star appearance.

Ultimately, while both players possess immense talent, Williams’ preference for Doncic highlights the Slovenian star’s impact and clutch performances on the court. Last season the Mavs superstar averaged 32.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8 assists in 36.2 minutes per game.
