The Brooklyn Nets are expected to waive Edmond Sumner, sources told HoopsHype’s Mike Scotto.

A cost-cutting move, Sumner’s $2.2MM non-guaranteed salary for 2023-24 would have been guaranteed if the Nets won’t release him until tomorrow.

Sumner, 27, had an impressive outing last season for the Nets as one of their contributors off the bench amid missing full 2021-22 due to an Achilles tear. He went on to average 7.1 points, 1.5 boards, and 1.3 dimes in 53 games for 13.9 minutes of play.

With the solid bounce-back performance he made last season, he is expected to receive plenty of interest around the league.

Sumner played his first four seasons with the Indiana Pacers before landing in the Nets last 2021 offseason via trade.
