The Toronto Raptors have recently interviewed Golden State Warriors assistant Kenny Atkinson with regards to their head coaching opening, sources told insider Marc Stein.
Previous reports suggest that the Raptors are finally moving closer in naming the finalists of their coaching search. Team president Masai Ujiri has also set the schedule next week towards their final rounds of interviews.
Spanish coach Sergio Scariolo, Sacramento Kings assistant Jordi Fernandez and Memphis Grizzlies assistant Darko Rajakovic are some of the names that popped up with regards to the ongoing mentor hunt of the Raptors.
Executing a wide range of initial coaching interviews, Toronto is yet to determine their new head coach after dismissing Nick Nurse. Following the hiring of Frank Vogel of the Phoenix Suns, they are the only team left that has no top coach yet.
As such, Atkinson, 56, could be the perfect man on the job of their potential rebuild given his robust identity as a development coach.
