A new sizzling controversy could be back on the menu for Ja Morant.

And apparently, a gun is in – once again.

In a viral Instagram live which is now circulating around the league’s social media circle, Morant was seen hanging out with his friends in a vehicle. While partying with rap music blasting the speakers, he was caught holding a firearm.

The shift of the camera focus of his friend was quick, but many viewers provided screenshots that indeed show the Memphis Grizzlies star having a pistol in his left hand.

Morant notably absorbed public backlash after he displayed a handgun in his Instagram livestream while at a strip club in Glendale, Colorado back on March 4. Investigations were launched by the local authorities but didn’t charge him with a crime as the evidence was not enough.

The NBA went on to slap Morant with an eight-game suspension. While away from the Grizzlies’ team activities, Morant entered a counseling program at a Florida facility. To discuss the “healing process” he took and the unethical conduct he committed, he met NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and the rest of the league brass.

In a sit-down interview with Jalen Rose of ESPN, Morant confessed his wrongdoings and denied that he is the owner of the gun he flashed. He also noted that he doesn’t promote violence in the wake of his notorious incident.

“It’s not who I am,” Morant told Rose. “I don’t condone it or any type of violence, but I take full responsibility from my actions. I made a bad mistake. I can see the image that I painted over myself with my recent mistakes. But in the future, I’m going to show everybody who Ja really is, what I’m about and change this narrative that everybody got.”

Amid the drama that took place, Morant and the Grizzlies proceeded to finish the regular season as a top-two team (51-31) in the Western Conference for the 2023 Playoffs. They just came up short in six games of their first-round set against the seventh-seed LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
