Joel Embiid delivered a dominant performance as he led the 76ers past the Celtics (103-101) by dropping 52 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists.

This prompted Philadelphia’s head coach Doc Rivers to claim that the MVP race is over. Embiid’s former teammate Jimmy Butler seems to concur.

“Joel’s the MVP. He should’ve been MVP last year too,” Butler said after learning that Embiid scored 52 points against the Celtics, via Vincent Goodwill.

This season the 29-year-old Cameroonian superstar is averaging 33 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 34.6 minutes per game.
