Eurocup newcomers Steaua Bucharest have signed Chris Cooper and Bogdan Popa for the upcoming season, the club have announced.

Cooper, 25, moves to the Romanian capital from rivals CSU Asesoft Ploiesti where he averaged six points and five rebounds from the club last season.

The Old Dominion standout will look to add his quick footwork, around the rim and defensive energy to the team as they make their Eurocup bow this season.

Romanian junior international, Popa comes to the club solely to gain experience at a higher level, having starred for the national team’s under-18 programme.

So far the 18-year-old, big man has averaged 6.3 points and 3.9 rebounds a game, internationally. But despite his consistency inside, Popa is still a raw talent in other areas.

The club will look to address Popa’s abilities at the free throw line (23 percent career foul shooter) and high risk of foul trouble. The prodigy is eligible for the NBA Draft in 2019.

They join former Eurocup winning point guard Marko Marinovic on to the revamped roster.
