The groups for the 2026-27 BKT EuroCup regular season were finalized on Wednesday during the competition’s official draw at the Mediapro headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. The tournament’s 32 teams were split into four groups of eight, setting the stage for a 14-round regular season that begins on September 29.
Each club will face the other seven teams in its group twice, once at home and once away, for 14 regular-season games. The top four teams from each group will qualify for the postseason, where the competition will feature Eighthfinals, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals, with every playoff series played in a best-of-three format.
Group A brings together several experienced European clubs, led by Hapoel Midtown Jerusalem and Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana. French side Le Mans Sarthe Basket, Spanish club Recoletas Salud San Pablo Burgos, Italian representative Baglietto Derthona Tortona, Greek outfit Aris Thessaloniki Betsson, Germany’s Rostock Seawolves and Latvia’s Riga Zelli complete a balanced group with multiple teams capable of advancing.
Group B features one of the strongest collections of contenders. La Laguna Tenerife, a perennial force in European competition, joins Turk Telekom Ankara, U-BT Cluj-Napoca and Umana Reyer Venice in a competitive field. Newcomers Maxima Roma, Lithuania’s Siauliai Basketball, the London Lions and Skyliners Frankfurt round out the group.
Group C appears particularly balanced, with defending champion Cosea JL Bourg-en-Bresse, Tofas Bursa, Buducnost VOLI Podgorica and Dolomiti Energia Trento all bringing recent European experience. Napoli Basketball, Neptunas Klaipeda, NINERS Chemnitz and Slask Wroclaw complete a group where the race for the top four could remain open throughout the regular season.
Group D is headlined by AS Monaco, which enters the competition alongside Bahcesehir College Istanbul, Kids&Us Manresa and ratiopharm ulm. Roma Basketball, Lietkabelis Panevezys, PAOK Thessaloniki and Balkan Botevgrad will also compete for four playoff spots in what projects to be another highly competitive group.
The revised competition format rewards consistency across the entire regular season. With only half of the teams in each group advancing, every game will carry significant weight from the opening round through the final week of group play.
Several clubs in this season’s field have established EuroCup pedigrees, while others will be looking to make deep runs after successful domestic campaigns. The geographic diversity of the tournament once again stretches across much of Europe, featuring teams from France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Turkey, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Slovenia, Poland, Montenegro and Israel.
The road to the EuroCup title officially begins on Tuesday, September 29, when all 32 teams open their regular-season campaigns. After 14 rounds of group play, 16 clubs will remain in contention before the best-of-three postseason determines the 2026-27 champion.
