The Pelicans were among the top teams in the Western Conference earlier this season, but find themselves in the 10th place in the West, just barely hanging in the play-in zone.

If New Orleans makes it to the playoffs, there is high probability that they would face the Grizzlies, the current number two team in the West.

It would put Zion Williamson against his friend Ja Morant. The number one pick of the 2019 NBA Draft was asked about meeting Memphis in a playoff series.

“It would be a great playoff series,” the 22-year-old forward said. “It’s all I can say. But as a competitor, you want me to say here and say that I’mma lose? No.

“When I’m on that court there are no friends. I just like to win. I love to win. If you want to be cool, we can be cool away from this. But when we’re on this rectangle, nah I’m going at you. I always believe in that. If you take it personal, you take it personal. I believe in that if you’re on the court, I’m going at you.

“I believe Memphis is a great team. I feel like it would be a great playoff series.”
