Phoenix Suns guard Cameron Payne will be sidelined due to a foot sprain, the team announced on Saturday. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Payne had a foot sprain last Dec. 12 against the Houston Rockets which kept him out for almost a month. He made a return to the team on Jan. 2 and ultimately sustained it again as they fought the Cleveland Cavaliers last Wednesday.

The veteran guard’s absence can only add a troubling problem for the Suns, who are severely inflicted by injuries and the key unavailabilities of Devin Booker and Cam Johnson.

This season, Payne is averaging 12.1 points, 5.3 assists, and 2.3 boards as an established significant rotational cog for Monty Williams and the Suns.

The Suns are currently sliding with a five-game losing skid, now holding an unwanted 20-20 record.
