Dorian Finney-Smith will be sidelined for at least two more weeks due to adductor strain, coach Jason Kidd announced prior to the Dallas Mavericks’ Tuesday match against the New York Knicks (h/t Marc Stein).
Finney-Smith has missed the last three games for the Mavs, with the injury appearing last Dec. 17 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The groin woes became even worse when he attempted to play through it back on Dec. 19 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The veteran forward’s presence will be sorely missed with the Mavs also enduring the absence of Maxi Kleber. Finney-Smith’s length, defensive versatility, and shooting have been vital for the club for the past few years.
This season, Finney-Smith is averaging 8.4 points, 4.0 boards, and 1.2 assists in 31 games played. He is draining 34.5 percent of his 5.4 threes attempt averages.
Kidd has been shuffling his deck of players with the team’s frontcourt depth having dents, with Christian Wood and Reggie Bullock elevated to start.
