Lakers head coach Darvin Ham decided start the last two games with Russell Westbrook on the bench and lead the second unit.

One of those games ended with a win over the Nuggets which was the first win this season for the Purple and Gold. In addition, individually for Russ those two games were better than the ones that he started, except for the season opener vs Warriors.

“When I’m in a right position to be able to help my teammates and make them better, it’s beneficial for everybody in my opinion,” Westbrook said.

“My job is to find ways to keep making the team better, whatever that is need at that night whether that’s assisting, scoring, rebounding, defending. I’m a person that prides myself in doing everything each and every night.”

This season Westbrook is averaging 13.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 30 minutes per game for the Lakers.
