A probable extension remains in the process for both De’Andre Hunter and the Atlanta Hawks.

As noted by Hawks GM Landry Fields, they are still discussing with Hunter’s camp to land a potential extension soon. As such, the club is hopeful that a deal will take place before Oct. 17.

Hunter will enter a contract year this 2022-2023 season with a remaining $9.8MM in salary. If he won’t be able to land a rookie extension with Atlanta before the season starts, he is slated to become a restricted free-agent next summer.

Hunter averaged 13.4 points, 3.3 boards, 1.3 assists and 44.2 percent shooting in 53 nights last season. His availability and efficiency are likely being considered as huge factors by the Hawks brass on their current negotiations.
