FIBA have begun an official investigation towards an alleged brawl that took place outside a locker room following Georgia’s EuroBasket clash with Turkey.

During the controversial and heated contest, won by Georgia after double overtime, Turkey guard Furkan Korkmaz and Georgia’s Duda Sanadze got into a scuffle which ended with both being ejected.

Korkmaz is saying that several Georgia players, led by Sanadze and arena security assaulted him while Sanadze claims that Turkey’s version is dramatic.

Turkey coach Ergin Ataman was also ejected much later on in the game. All three will not face any further action, FIBA have said.

However, FIBA have dismissed Turkey’s protests of the game clock continuing when the scuffle was ongoing, stating that the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) “failed to establish in their protest.”

They did, however, acknowledge that there was an error with the game clock during the fourth quarter.

Turkey dropped to 2-1 following the loss, while co-hosts Georgia secured their first win of EuroBasket.
