The NBA will certainly offer plenty of heavyweight matchups on Christmas Day, and it looks like one enticing matchup is already up for grab.

Sources told insider Marc Stein that both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks are slated for a Christmas collision this Dec. 25 inside the American Airlines Center, setting up a marquee superstar face-off between LeBron James and Luka Doncic in Texas.

But clarified by Stein, changes may still be applied by the league before the release of the official 2022-2023 schedule.

“Changes are still possible before the full schedule officially drops next week but Christmas games usually hold,” Stein noted.

Both Mavs and the Lakers had a Christmas duel in 2020, wherein the eventual champs prevailed with a 138-115 victory behind Anthony Davis’ 28-point showing.

At that time, these two clubs featured various players. But now, new faces are set to emerge.

With Dallas, though they failed to retain Jalen Brunson this offseason, they’ll boast now a towering frontcourt of Christian Wood and Javale McGee — which are expected to construct a formidable one-two punch combo with Doncic at the pick-and-roll block.

As for the Lakers, they got brand-new role players to rely on with Lonnie Walker, Thomas Bryant and Juan Tuscano-Anderson in town.

As such, this showdown has already caught the attention of basketball fanatics who are seeking a great Christmas hoops treat this year.
