According to CNN, the Biden administration has offered to exchange arms trafficker Viktor Bout as part of a potential deal to secure the release of two Americans held by Russia, WNBA player Brittney Griner and former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan.
Meanwhile, Brittney Griner’s lawyer, Maria Blagovolina, has noted that any prisoner exchange between Russia and the US would only be possible “after a court verdict.” Griner’s next hearing is scheduled for Aug. 2.
