Sopron Basket have won their first EuroLeague Women title by beating Fenerbahce in their own backyard.

A 16-6 first quarter from the Hungarian side, mixed with a heroic 16 points Final Four MVP from Gabby Williams was catalyst for the 60-55 championship game win.

“This is so fun,” Williams said afterwards. “It is so unbelievable. It just feels really, really good right now.”

Zsofia Fegyverneky shot a solid 57 percent from the field plus the all-important foul shots to seal the win to add 12 points for the newly-crowned champions.

For Fenerbahce, playing in-front of a home audience of 9,500 fans, they will feel let down by a below par 32 percent shooting night and a subdued showing from their duo Kayla McBride and Alina Iagupova, who shot a combined 5/28 from the field and 0/14 from three-point land.

Despite her showing, Iagupova still managed to lead the team with 13 points.

Earlier in the day, Perfumerias Avenida claimed third spot by downing ZVVK USK Praha 71-59.

The Spanish side, who lost to Sopron in the semi-final, were led by 25 points and four triples from Katie-Lou Samuelson.

For Praha, Brionna Jones led all scorers with 26, but the Czech outfit end the EuroLeague Women Final Four, 0-2.
