The Mavericks handed the Lakers their third straight loss with the win in Crypto.com Arena. Despite the loss, Los Angeles head coach Frank Vogel saw some positives from his players, especially in guarding Luka Doncic.

“I thought our best pace was really to start the game, the first six minutes,” Vogel said postgame. “We had some stretches where we ran the ball well in the fourth but not enough and especially down the stretch.

“But we gotta get stops. I think our defense overall was far better in the second half. I don’t know if you can do a better job on Luka than we did tonight with 25 points, 0-5 from three and 9-21

“I thought our guys really competed, our helpers really competed but he had that stretch down at crunch time where he scored a few buckets in a row and we’re taking the ball out. So not good enough.”

Vogel will have to find ways to get the most of his team in order to bring the Lakers to the playoffs. Coaching a basketball team can be compared to playing chess. For those interested in building their chess skills, Chessable is great resource.
