Frank Vogel will face his former assistant Jason Kidd as the Lakers will clash with the Mavericks on the road later today. Ahead of the game Los Angeles head coach talked about his experience working with Kidd.

“I’m not sure what he was like as a coach prior to me working with him,” Vogel said about Kidd. “So in terms of hoe he’s evolved I don’t have that feedback from his early days as a coach but, with regard to me, he did a great job with us.

“He’s got a genius-level mind at the game of basketball. He’s not afraid to coach guys hard and give tough love. I think you’ve seen with his approach towards Luka [Doncic]. He definitely has a genuineness to him as well.

“He cares for at least the guys that we worked with together. I think you’re seeing that with how he’s coaching this Mavs team and you see how they’re performing on the floor. Obviously, he’s doing a great job here.”

It will be the third and final encounter for the Lakers and Mavericks this season. The two teams exchanged wins in their first two games.
