Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob made a surprising statement regarding Steph Curry and his legacy in terms of winning more championships.

In a recent appearance on 95.7 The Game, Warriors owner Joe Lacob admitted that for his part, he hopes Curry is able to reach the same heights as LeBron.

“How many championships does LeBron have? [4] Steph has? [3] I really wanna see Steph get into that pantheon, at least equal to him. Nothing against him…” Lacob said (h/t TheWarriorsTalk on Twitter).

James and Curry met in four consecutive Finals, with Curry winning three of them. LeBron won his most recent NBA title with the Lakers in 2020.

Curry has yet to make the playoffs since the Warriors’ last NBA Finals’ run in 2019. He sat out all the 2019-20 season, before returning to action during the 2020-21 campaign.

The Warriors are 10-1 to open the new campaign and at this point the 7-5 Lakers are struggling to find balance, while LeBron James is out with injury.
