Los Angeles Clippers were able to register their first victory for the season in blowout fashion, as they prevailed over the Blazers with a 86-116 win.

Ty Lue revealed how the Clippers shut down Damian Lillard, who had another off night with 12 points, three assists, three assists, 4/15 FGs, and 0/8 from three.

(via Sports Illustrated):

“We just try to blitz him, keep the ball out of his hands as much as possible,” Ty Lue said. “We know he’s a dangerous scorer, he can get going at any time. We all know that and the world knows that… I thought our team defense did a good job.”

The defense was the key for the Clippers, as they saw Paul George and Reggie Jackson combining for 12-of-36 shooting. Jackson finished the game with 18 points and George had just 16.

The Clippers will face the Blazers again on Friday. It’s almost a certainty Lillard will try to bounce back, after his slow start in the season.
