Despite a big game from LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who scored 34 and 33 points respectively, the Los Angeles Lakers opened the season with a home loss to the Golden State Warriors (114-121). The winners were led by Steph Curry (21 points), who finished the game with a triple-double, and Jordan Poole (20 points).

While the Dubs had six players in double-digits, for the Lakers only James and Davis reached that point. After the game, LeBron talked about what led to his team losing the season opener.

“We started giving up the three ball [in the third quarter] and we had neutralized that through three quarters and they did a good job with their second lineup of coming in and getting the three ball going,” the four-time NBA champion said.

“They have 55 points off the bench. That’s challenging in his own self. It’s a few teams that challenge you more than any other team in the league and they’re up there with them as far as challenging your defense throughout 48 minutes.”
