The Los Angeles Lakers opened their preseason games with a heavy loss to the Brooklyn Nets (123-97). The top performer for the losers was newcomer Malik Monk who had 15 points in 21 minutes off the bench.

The 23-year-old guard was asked about how he fits in Frank Vogel’s plan for this game.“We got a couple of guys out. So it’ll be a little different when they get back,” Monk said postgame. “It played out exactly how he said. Just me to go in and be myself, not to feel in the box or anything like that. Just go out and be myself. That’s what I did.”
