Even though Marc Gasol expressed his desire to play the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, it is not certain that the Spaniard will be wearing Purple and Gold this coming season.

The 36-year-old center averaged 5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Lakers this past season as he saw his role change from a starter to coming off the bench and even sitting out some games behind Andre Drummond and Montrezl Harrell.

Via Marc Stein:

“One more Lakers roster note: I’m hearing that Marc Gasol is not a lock to return to the Lakers, even after Gasol said following Spain’s quarterfinal loss to the United States in the Olympics that he intends to play out the final year of the two-year deal he signed with Los Angeles.”

This coming season, Gasol is set to earn $2.69 million, according to Spotrac.
