Free agent point guard Emmanuel Mudiay intends to play Summer League for the Portland Trail Blazers, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Mudiay is a former No. 7 overall pick back in the 2015 NBA Draft who last played 54 games for the Utah Jazz in the 2019-20 season.

The 25-year-old’s two best seasons came in 2015-16 and 2018-19.

2015-16 was Mudiay’s rookie year with the Denver Nuggets and he averaged 12.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.0 steal per game.

He was named to the second-team All-Rookie Team.

In 2018-19 with the New York Knicks, he averaged 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.

Mudiay will join veteran Michael Beasley with the Trail Blazers for the Summer League, as both players hope to make an impression and possibly secure NBA contracts.

The NBA Summer League is making a return after it was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It will run from Aug. 8-17 and all 30 teams will participate.
