New York Knicks are expected to be among the teams interested in acquiring Damian Lillard if the Blazers’ superstar becomes available for trade.

It’s highly unknown if Lillard will ask for a trade, however, the Knicks are expected to make their move if he does. Even if the Blazers’ superstar remains in Portland, the Knicks have already a backup plan in store.

“If nothing materializes with Lillard, the Knicks have other options at point guard. They can pursue free agents such as Kyle Lowry, Dennis Schroeder, Kendrick Nunn, Lonzo Ball or Chris Paul. They can also seek to trade for another point guard.

People in touch with the organization recently came away with the impression that New York would be interested in trading for Lillard, but would also be content to take a longer-term approach with the roster if the right opportunity didn’t arise.”

Each of those options will be considered a significant upgrade in the point guard position especially with Derrick Rose, Frank Ntilikina, and Elfrid Payton entering free agency.
