Jason Kidd has officially become the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, and the Los Angeles Lakers will look to replace their assistant coach.

Kidd, who spent the last two seasons with the Lakers, gave his thanks to the organization and Jeannie Buss for the two successful years in LA.

After two failed head coaching stints with the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks, Kidd joined Frank Vogel’s staff two years ago in hopes of repairing his image to get another opportunity.

The future Hall of Famer seemed to relinquish the opportunity of a fresh start in Dallas alongside Luka Doncic and new president of basketball operations Nico Harrison.
