In the wake of the reports that Luka Doncic is not happy with the front office of the Dallas Mavericks, former NBA player and current analyst Jay Williams added more fuel to the story saying the Slovenian could go to the New York Knicks.

Mavs owner Mark Cuban rejected rumors that there are front office issues on his team. However, just days after his comments the team’s GM Donnie Nelson stepped down followed by head coach Rick Carlisle.

Additionally, a report appeared suggesting that Doncic and his star teammate Kristaps Porzingis are not getting along. The Latvian forward was rumored to be a trade target for Dallas but remained with the team as Cuban denied the rumors.

According to Williams, the things happening with the Mavericks could lead to Doncic going elsewhere, specifically to New York. “Earlier in the year I said that New York could be a potential opportunity and people killed me for it, killed me for it! It’s feasible!” he said on Keyshawn, JWill & Zubin.

“There are feasible scenarios where you start looking at where will Luka want to go and build if it doesn’t work in Dallas. New York is not the only option. But I will there’s a lot of rumblings and Mark Cuban needs to put water on that Water.”

The 22-year-goal All-NBA guard is on a 4-year contract with Dallas worth $32.4 million. He is eligible to sign rookie supermax extension this summer. However, reportedly there are no ongoing talks between Doncic and the Mavericks on that regard.

This past season Luka averaged 27.7 points, 8 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game, helping his team qualify to the playoffs. Dallas was eliminated by the Clippers in the first round in seven games.
