The Philadelphia 76ers are now facing elimination after being up 2-1 in the second round series against the Atlanta Hawks. The number one seed in the Eastern Conference has lost two games in a row and trails 3-2.

Game 5 was a devastating loss for the Sixers as they wasted a 26-point lead and conceded 40 points in the fourth quarter. Head coach Doc Rivers once again finds his team with its back against the wall, despite having a lead early. After the game, he admitted that the mood inside the locker room was awful following the loss.

“The mood was down. It was awful,” Rivers said postgame, per Chris Vivlamore. “What would you think it would be? It would have to be. This is part of sports. You have some awful moments. There is no guaranteed path to get to your goal. We have made this hard on ourselves.”
