While Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Dennis Schroder were struggling with shooting for the Los Angeles Lakers in the first half of the play-in game against the Golden State Warriors, making just 2 out of 22 shots, Alex Caruso made 5/5 of his shots to keep his team in the game.

The 27-year-old guard played a total of 30 minutes as he scored 14 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished 2 assists. After the game, he was asked about his first half performance.

“I was just trying to be aggressive to score because I think they were playing not in a disrespectful way but they weren’t playing me and they weren’t playing some of our guards because they were so worried about AD,” Caruso said. “So I got a couple of layups in transition I think, open three on a kick-out that I knew I was going to have and then just shot ready in the corner on the other one.

“Just doing what I do, being opportunistic. Thought a couple of them could have been and-one opportunities. It’s playoffs, it’s more physical, everything is going to be a little more touch and go. Just fortunate to be whatever I was 4/4 5/5, especially when we weren’t playing great offensively in the first half.”
