Just a few days since officially signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, Andre Drummond made debut with his new team. After playing just 14 minutes, the 27-year-old center had to leave the court due to a toe injury. He is now day-to-day.

After the game, the Lakers head coach Frank Vogel shared his thoughts on Drummond’s debut with the Lakers. “He draws a lot of attention in the paint,” he said.

“During that stretch we really shot the ball well from the perimeter, something we really had some drill work in practice yesterday and to create a lot of open shots for guys to get some live shooting work and I thought that part paid off.

“We’re playing the right way offensively, generating high quality looks. Andre rolling to the basket and being in the paint draws a lot of attention and guys knocked down shots during that stretch. He definitely benefited us during that.”

Vogel was also asked about Drummond’s impact on the defensive end. “You see the physical presence that he brings, the athleticism, blocking shots at the rim, stripping the basketball with his quick hands, the ability to move his feet and contain while taking the big shoulder contact and staying in there,” Lakers head coach said. “He’s definitely going to help us on that side of the ball and you saw some if it tonight.”
