After returning to the playoffs last year, the Dallas Mavericks are having a rough start this season. The Mavs were handed their 11th loss of the season by the Utah Jazz. It wasn’t just another loss, it was a blowout right from the first quarter, which Dallas lost 12-37.

Following the defeat, Luka Doncic, who had 25 points for the game, was critical of the effort his team put. He also questioned Dallas’ commitment, saying the players appear to not care whether they win or lose. At the same time, the 21-year-old Slovenian expressed hope that the Mavs can still turn things around.

“I would say right now it’s looking like we don’t care, honestly, if we win games or not,” Doncic said, per Tim MacMahon of ESPN. “We just [need] more energy, more effort, dive for every ball, box out, everything. There’s a lot of things we could improve, and I know we will. I know we will, and that’s all that matters.”

Dallas continues to drop in the standings. With 8 wins and 11 losses, they are nearing the bottom of the Western Conference. Currently they are in 14th place, just above the New Orleans Pelicans (7-10) and the Minnesota Timberwolves (4-14).
